Claire Nakibuule

Claire teaches music at both the Africa Music School and the community project. “I am proud to have become a music teacher, thanks to the interest and influence of my teacher Monique Udo, who taught me to play music with a group of five people, the ‘five stars,’ in which there were only two girls and three boys. I am very proud of what I can do now, because in my country it is surprisingly special and adorable to see a woman playing the saxophone. I am very grateful for this great talent that has been given to me. I am grateful to be able to use my talent to train other girls and boys so that they too can become an inspiration to others when they grow up. I believe that talent is a treasure and a development for life, a shift towards vital connections. I look forward to teaching more people around the world by working with Music for Children.

There is a hidden treasure about music that I discovered when I became a musician: thanks to talent and connections, you can easily meet famous people and go to other countries. Music allowed me to meet one of the best saxophonists in my country, Isaiah Katumwa, whom I was eager to see, and thanks to music and Monique, I was able to meet him. In my class, there are people my Wipe a Tear students want to meet, and I told them about my experience so that they can do the same. I hope to be able to help more by teaching music to younger generations.
