I am Michael Katongole and a teacher at Happy Children Music Initiative. I am grateful for having an opportunity to be part of the music teachers at HCMI. Personally I always had the passion to learn music and since 2017 I started to take music more seriously and learn how to play some instruments properly.

It was through being a musician that I came to know Claire, who later introduced me to Samira and Josien. Music for Children thereby helped me achieve one of my goals: becoming a music teacher. What I love most is to learn and discover more everyday about music, which I can then share with other people and children in the community who want to learn about music as well. I love to see the possibilities community children get through the projects of Music for Children, since I never got that chance as a kid due to a lack of means to support me. It is thus extra valuable that HCMI, together with Music for Children, are always there to help, support and empower the children to learn music and train the future music champions of Uganda! I am excited to keep teaching my kids, and also learn from them and each other while making an impact through music on the next generation.
